Admissions to Loyola College Prep

Admissions:
Loyola continually seeks motivated students from all socio-economic backgrounds, without
regard to race, sex, or national origin. It is also important that the Loyola student
and family share our goals as explained in the Statement of Philosophy and Mission
.
To apply for admission, interested 8 th graders should obtain and complete an entrance
exam registration form from our school office. Return it, along with the $25 testing
fee, prior to the announced testing date. Students applying between testing times
should inquire of the admissions office about the next available opportunity.
Once the test results are scored, both parents and student are invited for an interview.
We want to meet the family personally as well as interpret the test scores. To that
interview, bring along the students' most recent report card and any other recent
standardized test scores for review.
After all interviews have been completed, the Admission Committee will meet to review
all applicants and reach its decision. Applicants will be notified through the mail
of their enrollment status. Students admitted will receive registration forms and
a contract that must be completed and returned with the $275 registration fee to the
Registrar's office as soon as possible. Applicants submitting these before the designated
March or April deadline pay a discounted fee of $225. The registration fee will increase
in two $50 increments until August 1.
Students beyond the 9 th grade are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office for
admissions procedure. Policy dictates that applicants be considered only under certain
circumstances. The Admissions Committee reviews each applicant's file on a case-by-case
basis.

Following a long-standing tradition,
Loyola wishes to assist students who are qualified for, but cannot afford, a Loyola
education. Financial assistance is available to those students whose parents demonstrate
financial need. Currently, we are proud to be assisting 25 % of our student body.
Also, more than 50% of those receiving aid are Catholic.
Applications become available in January for the next school year.
In order to be considered, applicants must
1. complete the school's required application forms
2. submit them, along with copies of their most recent income tax forms, by the April
15th deadline to the Admissions Office
3. have their student properly registered with the school
4. be current in their existing account with the school, if applicable.
NOTE: New applicants should take the January entrance exam. Financial aid assists
with tuition ONLY. Registration fees, student fees and the tuition insurance
fee are not covered by this program. Students who qualify are required to maintain
a 2.0 minimum grade point average with no failing grades. Financial assistance award
letters are sent out in late April or early May. Financial assistance is made possible
because of generous contributions made over the years to endowed scholarships such
as: The Mr. & Mrs. L.V. Gibbs Scholarship, the Steve Jordan Endowed Scholarship,
the Kinsey Fund, and the Pat Payne Scholarship.
