Alumni Golf Tournament set for June 3

Tee times for the 15th annual Flyer Alumni Association are beginning to fill up, so don't waste in any time in reserving your spot. The tournament is June 3 at Palmetto Country Club in Benton and a limited number of team entries are still available!

Brochures have been printed, but why wait? ... HERE IS YOUR ENTRY FORM (pdf)

The format is a 4-man scramble and the team entry fee is $500. Lunch will be served at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in two categories (alumni and open), as well as an overall winner. To enter the alumni category, all four team members must have attended the school.

Proceeds for this event have been designated to fund the operations of the Athletic Complex, so your participation is extremely important at any level. In addition to forming teams, you can help by becoming a corporate sponsor ($2,000 or $1,000) or a hole sponsor ($150).

Alumni make Career Day a tremendous success

It was quite an impressive group of presenters who highlighted Loyola College Prep's Career Day on April 15 at the school. Alumni presenters from New York, Dallas, Houston and Monroe made the trip to Jordan Street to make presentations to Loyola's entire student body in a classroom format.

Scott Ely '83, a cancer research specialist from Cornell University, and Ginger Reeder SVA '77 (pictured right), the designer of the fantasy gifts for the famous Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog, were among the more than 40 presenters on hand.

Loyola students attended five “classes” of career fields of their choice during the Career Day and the day closed with an assembly, featuring speeches by Ely and Reeder to the entire student body.

Ely (pictured, top left) is Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Assistant Attending Pathologist at Weill Medical College of Cornell University/New York Presbyterian Hospital and was among seven different medical fields represented.

Local judge Roy Brun, corporate attorney Jimmy Reeder '80 from Houston and assistant Caddo District Attorney Hugo Holland '81 are among those who will be presenters in the field of law.

Alumni Update

From a Dallas-area magazine ...
CHRIS WARD '76 TO THE WHITE HOUSE? First Lady Laura Bush was on a scouting mission in Big D yesterday. Her
target? Mercury Grill executive chef Chris Ward. Last night Mrs. Bush dined at MG, but Chris was home with his first family. The news behind the rumor is that the White House has "asked" Ward to consider becoming head chef. Seems the former presidential chef has "resigned." Mrs. Bush felt he was too reserved; she wants a chef with a personality. Ward just confirmed, "Yeah, my portfolio is up there. I don't know what's going to happen. I'm extremely flattered." Former White House pastry chef Roland Mesnier, who nominated Ward after eating at Mercury Grill, recommended Ward to Mrs. Bush. Mesnier told Ward that things at the White House have settled down since the Clinton Administration.

ADARRIEL PEGUES '92 completed the Louisiana State Police Academy in Baton Rouge on March 11, 2005

BROOKE CARRINGTON ALEXANDER '94 married Hiram Alexander III in May 2003, and is now living in New Orleans.  She is the owner of the Bath Junkie, a unique twist on bath and body products, with plans to open a second store in Jackson, Miss.  at the end of July.

JENNIFER FERTITTA ALEXANDER '00 and her husband Charles became parents of twins on Sept. 27, 2004. Nicholas Caden and Alyssa Nicole weighed 7lbs 2oz, and 6 lbs 5oz. They both healthy and doing great.
