Alumni Drive needs final push; can you help?

As the school year winds to a close, you find ourselves at 82 percent of our goal for the Alumni Annual Fund Drive. That's means we are about $9,828 short of our goal for the graduates of St. John's, Jesuit and Loyola. For those who have not done so, please take a moment and show your support of our school by making a gift today.

For those who have made a contribution, please visit the following link and review to make sure your listing is correct:
ALUMNI ANNUAL FUND DONOR LIST

There are three ways you can add your name to the Donor List as well as increase the participation level of your class. Please choose the method that is most convenient for you:

1. Return the Pledge Card you received in the mail earlier this year to 921 Jordan, Shreveport LA 71101. (If you don't have a pledge card, please indicate your Class Year on the check)
or
2. Call (318) 226-6291 and make a pledge over the phone.
or
3.
E-mail your pledge by using the REPLY button to this E-Flyer.

No matter what method you choose, your name will be added to the Donor List as soon as possible and increase your class participation percentage. Please know that your contribution will be used to impact the lives of current and future Loyola Flyers.

Thank you for your support. For any questions or for more information, call (318) 226-6291.

The Alumni Reunion & Fish Fry, scheduled for June 3 has been cancelled and will be re-scheduled at a later date. If you were kind kind enough to register for the event, you registration information and/or check is being returned.

Because of numerous scheduling conflicts, the Flyer Alumni Association (sponsors of the event) decided that it would be best to have the event at a time that would be more convenient for a greater number of people (For example, four classes are having their own reunions within two weeks of this event.) Many with school-age children find the first few weeks of summer vacation to be especially hectic.

The Alumni Association wishes to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you might have incurred from the event change.

Restovich '65 to oversee transportation security

FROM THE FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM

Mike Restovich, federal security director at Dallas Love Field, has been tapped to oversee the day-to-day operations of all U.S. transportation security, including all security directors, screeners and inspectors.

Within the Transportation Security Administration, Restovich, 58, will command security operations for all types of transportation -- one of the largest endeavors in the federal government.

Restovich was an early figure in the TSA's formation after the 9-11 terrorist attacks and has been a key figure in the agency's "risk-based" reorganization under Director Kip Hawley. Restovich, a former U.S. Secret Service agent, will be one of four people overseeing key aspects of the agency.

"It's a high honor and privilege to be asked to do this," Restovich said.

Work during Hurricane Katrina led to the new job. Restovich traveled to Louis Armstrong New Orleans Airport to help oversee evacuations after the storm. He received the TSA's most prestigious award in October and was invited to help with the agency's reorganization based on recommendations by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.

The Loyola Flyers took on North DeSoto in the annual Spring Game May 17 at Messmer Stadium. The Flyers scored four touchdown in the battle of 1st teams and allowed only one. The Flyers will have six home games in the 2006 season.

LeBlanc named AD; Field House Project begins

John LeBlanc '84 has been named as the Athletic Director at Loyola for the 2006-07 school year. LeBlanc will continue to serve as head football coach.

LeBlanc replaces Tony Rinaudo '67, who will become the school's Assistant Principal for Discipline during the next school year. Rinaudo has served in his current capacity since 2002 and has overseen the construction and day-to-day operations of the Loyola Athletic Complex.

LeBlanc, who also served as Loyola's AD from 1997-2000, will oversee Loyola 12 varsity and club teams as well as continue as head football coach.

LeBlanc won't have much time to ease into his job when it begins on June 1 -- he's overseeing the construction of the Flyer Field House at the Athletic Complex, which has received Board of Trustees approval.

Construction on the 9,800-suare foot building -- which will house locker rooms for football (varsity and freshman), boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball and boys and girls lacrosse -- is scheduled to begin before the end of May. The Field House is being constructed entirely by private donations from alumni and friends and should be completed in 2006. For more information on being involved in the Field House project, contact LeBlanc at (318) 226-6297 or by email at jleblanc@loyolaprep.org
