National Honor Society

Purpose/Overview                        
Membership in the National Honor Society is based on excellence in four areas -- scholarship, leadership, service and character.  Each category is judged independently.

Requirements for Membership
To be eligible, a student must have completed at least three semesters of course work and maintained a cumulative average of at least 3.8. In addition to the academic requirement, participation in school and other activities is required.

How to Join
Eligible students are invited to apply after the first semester. A faculty selection committee makes the final determination.

NHS Activities

  • The NHS staffs the Middle School Rally that Loyola puts on every year for the local middle schools. These middle-school students compete in Math, Science, Language Arts, and History, and the winning school takes home a sweepstakes trophy.
  • NHS Spring Induction: NHS Seniors receive gold cords to wear at graduation, and new members are welcomed into the group. This event is held annually in the spring at St. John's Cathedral after the school Mass.
