Communications Department

Multimedia Production is a one-credit elective course designed to expose students to audio and video production.  Students organize, produce, and direct audio and video presentations, both as group and individual projects.  Formats will resemble radio, television, and web presentations.  The focus of the course will be on digital video acquisition and computer based editing using Adobe Premier and Photoshop.

Publications is a one credit elective course in which a traditional 280-page yearbook is written from August through February.  The remaining part of the school year focuses on writing the supplement. Students improve writing, photography and computer skills in creating the school's yearbook.  Disciplines in the creative, technical and business fields are also covered.  Publications II is offered for graduates of the first course who want to continue in this area.

Speech is a one-semester course designed to help students develop the skills of effective communication. These skills include listening, spatial communication, nonverbal and verbal communication, group discussion, and one-to-one communication.  Students will participate in a wide range of activities designed to enhance their understanding of the communication process.  Students learn research methods, organization and delivery techniques for a variety of speaking situations.
