Flyers fall in overtime in quarterfinals
A quick early goal by Loyola gave the Flyers' girls soccer team the quick start it was looking for but in the end, it was a late goal in overtime that made the difference.
Playing against the second-seeded Vandebilt Catholic Terriers in Houma, Maggie Adams scored a goal two minutes into the quarterfinal match, but Vandebilt tied the game on a penalty kick with 10 minutes left in the first half and later won it in the second overtime, 2-1.
"It was a good run," Loyola coach Heather Kasparek said. "They were a very fast team. We played defense a lot."
The Flyers had a bye in the first round and defeated Parkway 4-0 in the regional round.
Loyola finishes the season with a 17-9-1 record. |
