Ville Platte ends Flyers' season

The hot shooting of the Ville Platte Bulldogs at the beginning and end of the game were too much for Loyola to overcome as the Flyers fell 69-60 in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs. Despite an early barrage of 3-pointers by Ville Platte, the Flyers were only down by two points at halftime. But Loyola did not have a field goal for more than four minutes to start the second half and Ville Platte was able to build the lead. Still, the Flyers managed to cut into the lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs made their shots down the stretch to win the game.

The Flyers reached the playoffs for the second time in 10 years and finished 20-16 overall. It's the fifth time in school history for the Flyers to win 20 games in a season.

WEEKLY RECAP

Former Flyer Thomas back in NBA

Billy Thomas is back in the NBA, this time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thomas has been signed to his second 10-day contract by the Cavaliers, who reach the NBA Finals last year and feature LeBron James, one of the top players in the NBA.

Thomas, who was an All-State player for Loyola in 1994 and went on to a record-setting career at Kansas, has previously played for New Jersey and Washington. Earlier this year, he was in the NBA Development League.

Loyola also has two players currently playing in Division I basketball: Louisiana Tech's J.J. Marshall and Northwestern State's John Anthony Anglin.
