LOYOLA 61, CALVARY 42: The Flyers used a full-court press and an early lead to come away with in the opening game of the District 1-2A season. The Flyers led 19-6 after the first quarter and held off several runs by the Cavaliers by forcing an amazing 38 turnovers. Ginney Pullen led Loyola with 22 points while Eloise Watts and Megan Rast had 10 each. Rast also had eight steals and five assists. LOYOLA 58, HUGHES SPRINGS, TX 24 (Waskom Tournament): After one quarter, it was close. But not after that. The Flyers held Hughes Springs to only 12 points in the final three quarters and cruised to the win in the opening round of the Waskom Tournament. Sarah Abrams hit 5 of 6 shots from the floor and had 10 points. Abbie Naus led Loyola with 12 and Ginney Pullen had 10. Naus also had seven rebounds and five steals. LOYOLA 65, WASKOM, TX 52 (Waskom Tournament): In the semifinals, Ginney Pullen had 21 points, Abbie Naus had 15 and Megan Rast added 10 as the Flyers used a 25-9 run in the second quarter to build a 38-25 halftime lead. Rast and Eloise Watts each had two 3-pointers for the Flyers. Pullen also had 13 rebounds. EVANGEL 49, LOYOLA 44 (Waskom Tournament): A 20-8 run to start the second half was too much for the Flyers to overcome as the Eagles won the championship of the Waskom Tournament. Ginney Pullen had 20 points -- her fourth 20-point performances in the last five games -- to lead the Flyers. Sarah Abrams led Loyola with seven rebounds. The Flyers, who are only shooting 55 percent from the line, made all 10 of their free throws. |
