Admissions Process

If you are looking for a quality education grounded in faith, Loyola College Prep is the place for you. Our faculty challenge and encourage students to develop strong spiritual values as well as valuable intellect. These skills present the ultimate preparation for college education.

Our curriculum encompasses honors, advanced placement and dual enrollment courses while our religion department and weekly Mass attendance encourages spiritual growth.

STEPS TO APPLY

#1 EXPERIENCE LOYOLA

Schedule a Monday to shadow a current student and see what a day at Loyola is like. Our Flyer for a Day program gives prospective students an inside look and a warm welcome.

#2 TEST

If your middle school is not indicated below, please sign up to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) at Loyola.

The HSPT is currently offered to the following middle schools (If yours is below, you do not have to take the test at Loyola on one of the dates.)

  • St. Mark's Cathedral School
  • Cathedral of St. John Berchmans Catholic School
  • First Baptist Church School
  • St. Joseph Catholic School

#3 INTERVIEW

Set up an interview appointment, and bring the following:

  • Recent standardized test scores
  • Most recent report card
  • Birth certificate
  • Immunization form

Process Timeline

Loyola's admissions timeline follows a broad, flexible schedule so families have time to better experience each part of the process. We understand that families are investing in education at Loyola, and we want to take the admissions journey with you.

FLYER FOR A DAY PROGRAM

Students have the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a flyer while school is in session. Shadow a current Loyola student and learn what makes Loyola special.

TESTING

High School Placement Tests start in the late fall semester and end in early spring.

High School Placement Tests are given at the following middle schools:

  • St. Mark's Cathedral School
  • Cathedral of St. John Berchmans Catholic School
  • First Baptist Church School
  • St. Joseph Catholic School

If your student's middle school is not listed above, you may take the test at Loyola.

INTERVIEWING

Interviews begin after results of the High School Placement tests have been received, usually in December of each year, and continue through the spring semester.

Entrance Exams for 2020-21 School Year

Loyola requires all students to take the High School Placement Exam. The exam is hosted at the following schools throughout the year. If your student does not attend one of these schools, he/she may take the exam at Loyola.

  • St. Mark's Cathedral School - November 4
  • Cathedral of St. John Berchmans Catholic School - October 25
  • First Baptist Church School - October 24
  • St. Joseph Catholic School - October 22

2019-20 EXAM DATES (hosted at Loyola)

  • Saturday November 9
  • Saturday December 7
  • Saturday Feb 1
  • The exam runs from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and requires a $25 fee.
