Dual Enrollment

1. Students must be a sophomore, junior or senior to be eligible for Dual Enrollment.

2. Students must attach either their ACT or SAT scores and meet the score requirements listed below. 

3. Students must be in good standing and meet their high school Dual Enrollment guidelines as defined by the high school.

4. Students must have approval from their high school designee and their parent/guardian to participate.

5. Students must apply each semester to Dual Enrollment with LSUS.

Eligibility Criteria

1. High School GPA of 2.0 or higher

2. ACT/ASPIRE/PSAT/PLAN equivalent composite score of 18 or greater or SAT Math and Critical Reading combined score of 940. 

3. If taking English courses, student must have an ACT English subscore of 18 or greater or SAT Critical Reading  subscore of 450 or greater.

4. If taking Math courses, students must have an ACT Math subscore of 19 or greater or SAT Math subscore of 460 or greater. Students may not use a PSAT test score for Math courses.

5. If taking Science courses, there may be a higher minimum ACT/ASPIRE/PLAN/SAT Math subscore required. Please check out our website for more details at www.lsus.edu/dualenrollment. 

6. For an English course higher than English 105, an ACT English subscore of 28 or SAT Critical Reading subscore of 630 is required unless credit for English 105 has previously been earned. Please check out our website for more details at www.lsus.edu/dualenrollment. 

7. For a Math course higher than Math 121, an ACT Math subscore of 21 or SAT Math subscore of 500 is required unless credit for Math 121 has previously been earned. Please check out our website for more details at www.lsus.edu/dualenrollment.

How does LSUS award college credit for dual enrollment?

1. As a Dual Enrollment student taking courses for college credit through LSUS, you will be awarded a letter grade of A, B, C, D, or F which will be based on the specific assessment criteria in place for each course. This information will be communicated to you by your high school teacher. All grades will be included on your permanent college transcript and contribute to your overall grade point average. LSUS only records (letter) grades.

2. All students participating in dual enrollment courses are allowed to withdraw from a class but must do so by the published semester deadlines by submitting an official LSUS Status Change Form to the high school counselor/dual enrollment administrator. 

3. Your dual enrollment course will transfer to other universities under the same guidelines as all other LSU Shreveport credit courses. For example, ENGL 105 taken as part of the Louisiana Early Start Program will transfer to other institutions under the same guidelines as ENGL 105 taken on campus by full-time LSU Shreveport students.

4. A grade of F, NC, or W will be considered as a course attempted but not passed when you are evaluated for federal or state financial aid programs, including loans and grants, and may affect your eligibility for these programs.

5. Credit earned through dual credit programs will not affect eligibility for TOPS during your first semester as a first time freshman; however, it will be included when your college grade point average is reviewed to determine TOPS eligibility for subsequent semesters.

6. You should be aware that some private and out-of-state colleges and universities may not accept credit earned in Dual Enrollment courses. We urge you to contact all universities you are considering applying to and discuss their policy related to dual enrollment credit early in your admissions process.

Students must order official transcripts through their myLSUS account to be mailed to all institutions they have made college applications with. Students should complete this process after their LSU Shreveport grades have been posted at the completion of their senior year in high school. 

FYI: For those students planning to attend LSUS as college freshmen, the following course waivers are offered based on ACT scores:

ENGL 105 waived for an ACT English subscore of 28 or greater

ENGL 115 waived for an ACT English subscore of 32 or greater

MATH 121 waived for an ACT Math subscore of 26 or greater

MATH 150 waived for an ACT Math subscore of 30 or greater
