Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and organizations. These organizations are student-led and feature opportunities for students to give back to our community, grow closer to their peers, and have fun! From athletics and spirit groups to clubs, SGA, and Loyola's biggest organization Flyer Aiding the Hungry (F.Ai.T.H.), our students are well rounded and seek any chance to be more involved at school and in the community.
The Loyola experience stretches beyond academics. Students are challenged in mind, body and spirit with many avenues to share their gifts. No matter where each student shines, each one can find a way to express his or her talents at Loyola.
ACTIVITIES
There is something for everyone, and if it does not exist yet, students are encouraged to create it! Some clubs, like Tabletop Games Club or Modern Music Club, are just for fun, while others involve interscholastic competition and/or community service. The Science Olympiad Team, for example, has earned a reputation for excellence. Click here to learn more about the clubs at Loyola.
SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Students attend Mass every Wednesday at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans, and all are invited to pray in the chapel in the Residence Hall. Additionally, student retreats help steer the process of self-discovery. In between, classes in religion, spirituality and the pervasive spirit of St. Ignatius are all part of daily growth.
SERVICE
Service is built into the Ignatian approach to education. At Loyola, it's a part of every student’s experience. Whether he or she is tutoring local children at The Lighthouse, distributing FAiTH baskets to neighbors or fundraising for non-profit organizations, each student experiences the joy of serving others.
Student service does not stop with the requirements of school. Many come up with their own ideas for service, find help from faculty to implement them and take action. Recently, a student-led program at a local nursing home has connected residents with students—a partnership that has positively impacted all.
